The Picture I Did Not Take on Thursday.

By Steve
The wind gently lifts the boats silently
Across the bay
The water is not smooth but rippled
Like a crumpled sheet after a night’s sleep
The quarter moon winks at the water
Telling all of its place in the heavens
As the sun recedes, it paints with colors
Gold and red and yellow and pink
Soon the sun will vanish for the day
Leaving us to the grays of night
The pelicans still gliding and diving
Unseen but not unheard
The water lapping against the land
That unspecified bit of ground
Not land but not water
Murky, squishy and gray
That is the picture
That I did not take today.
