Blue Moon

The moon peeked out behind a cloud at me

I do not know why she was so shy

Like a child seeing a person for the first time

The moon will be in her fully glory tonight

Shimmering and Shining

Her full face glowing down on us

I looked around and saw the sun still up

Red and yellow rays streaked across the sky

Still light enough to see all things and all beings

But dark enough to see no shadows cast

From people or places

I glance again at the moon and I think I know why

All of her radiance, all of her glory

Is reflected from elsewhere

Her envy is showing!
